The area of psychic reading goes back to the age of the Egyptians and maybe before. The essential history of man cannot be complete and accurate without the subject of psychic readers. For centuries, psychic readers were the constant reliable resources for kings, queens, and the pharaoh. There main purpose was to fore see the future for the royal court. The psychic readers were held in such high regard that their word alone could alter the course of entire armies. If the king met with the psychic reader in the private quarters of the castle and the reader fore told of great danger then the king would rethink his entire battle plans. This was an extreme example but there are lesser ones that also showed the power of the psychics.
Farming decisions and livestock husbandry were all weighed in heavily by the decisions of the psychic readers. The electing of a governmental person or body was always consulted first by the psychic readers. Punishment and in rare cases even death, were all results from what the psychic medium saw in their visions and dreams. This was all about to change when the decisions of a few key psychic readers lead to the defeating of an army in one of the European conflicts.
The lofty positions held by the psychic readers were now in jeopardy and the punishments that were handed out by the rulers if the psychic predictions went awry, were up to death. This new denial of unbiased sovereignty by the royal families convinced the psychics to evolve away from the upper class blue-bloods. Another drastic change that came to the psychics was the advent of Judaism and the reality of monotheism. Coupled with the threat of death by hanging or worse, and the new influx of the clergymen into the royal court dealt the end to the lofty positioning of the psychic readers.
Fast-forward to the 18th century and the infamous Salem witch trials. The psychics were sometimes put in the same lot as the practicing witches during this turbulent time in American history. Stoned, beaten, hung, or burned at the stake, the life of a psychic was dark indeed. many psychics went underground after the Salem debacle and the majority of psychics were nowhere to be found. This only added to the allure of the belief that they were all involved in the black magic.
The past history of the psychic reader is both a turbulent and exciting foray into the art of the all-seeing. Many famous psychics would arise out of the 19th century to lead a new group of readers in to the future. Their beliefs and values would be put to the test but overall the ability and the perseverance of the gifted-ones would prove to stand the test of time. Among the leaders that broke new ground for the group of psychics were Moses Ben Shem Tov De Leon and Eliphas Levi. There courage and insight into the art of psychic readings would be the benchmark for all future psychics.
